THE LATEST

Class of 2022 quarterback Ty Simpson is a popular prospect among SEC coaches and after spending the spring juggling baseball and football, he's ready to get back on the road for some recruiting visits and camps. Rivals.com caught up with Simpson to talk about some of the schools in the mix as well as his plans for camps.

IN HIS WORDS

"It's still early for me so I'm really just enjoying the process right now. I'm going to go and do some camps and look at some more campuses this summer and just go from there."

On contact with college coaches: "I've done a good job of keeping in touch with Coach Breiner, the quarterbacks coach at Mississippi State. He's been wanting me to call him once a week and build that good relationship. Coach Werner, the quarterbacks coach at South Carolina, he's a good friend of my dad and he keeps texting him to have me call and stuff like that. Even Coach Allen at Indiana, he's been keeping up with my dad just seeing how I'm doing and stuff like that. I've got good relationships with all those guys and hopefully I can build more of them."

Thoughts on the new staff at Mississippi State's first season: "I think they looked pretty good. Nick Fitzgerald is a tough dude and he played through a lot. But that stadium is rocking every week with the cowbells and stuff like that and my dad went there so he's got a lot of ties down there. When he walks in the stadium people know who Jason Simpson is so it's kind of a good experience, a home-type experience for me. I think next year they'll have a better year because Coach Moorhead is a good recruiter and that defense is pretty good, too."

South Carolina: "They want me to play baseball and football and that kind of excites me. I like baseball as much as I like football. Their stadium is always rocking, too, with the fans waving towels and all kinds of stuff. It's a cool atmosphere. I know Joseph Anderson really well and he's going there and he wants me to go there with him, too. It's a pretty cool place. I know Coach Bentley because he recruits my area and his son is the quarterback and he tells me about what they can do with me."

Camp plans: "I plan on going to LSU , Alabama, Texas AM, Texas, Baylor and Virginia Tech."
