Mississippi State lands commitment from Rivals250 WR Teddy Knox

THE SITUATION

Mississippi State has landed a commitment from Rivals250 wide receiver Theodore Knox, he informed Rivals. Knox picked the Bulldogs over Georgia and Texas.

Knox, a four-star native of Baton Rouge entering his second season playing for The Woodlands (Texas) High School right outside of Houston, is the second four-star commitment for first-year head coach Mike Leach.

Both of the Bulldogs' four-star commitments hail from the Lone Star State. The other is Lubbock (Texas) Coronado quarterback Sawyer Robertson.

Knox is the third receiver to join Mississippi State's 2021 recruiting class, joining in-state standouts Corey Ellington and Brandon Buckhaulter. Entering the day, the class was sitting outside the top-50 of the Rivals national team rankings, but will certainly see that spot rise with the addition of its 10th commitment Knox.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"It came down to the way they stayed in touch with me throughout this CoVid-19 (pandemic), the way they stayed in touch with me through everything. They have been there since Day 1."

"Their offense basically fits my position and it fits me. I'm touching the all, I'm seeing the ball and seeing reps, rep, reps. They're basically throwing the ball all game. It's a perfect place for me to go and shine."

"Of course, I credit (assistant) Mason Smith. I like Coach (Mike) Leach and Coach (Steve) Spurrier (Jr.). They kept it straight up, too. They kept it 100 with me the entire time, through everything. I don't know if it was one thing that made me way some type of way, but good or bad, they kept it real and they kept it 100."

RIVALS REACTION

Knox is a bonafide speedster and one of the fastest prospects in not only Texas, but the entire country. He clocked a 22.19-second 200-meter time while at Southern Lab in Louisiana and owned an 11.02-second 100-meter time.

He's a versatile weapon that'll play in the slot at State. He is explosive off the line, can stretch the field and take the top off off opposing defenses in the SEC and can be dangerous after the catch and with the ball in his hands in space. He's already a proven kickoff and punt returner and poses a home-run threat any time he touches the rock.
