Mississippi State first to offer Georgia LB Allen Walker

ATLANTA — After transferring to Milton (Ga.) last summer, 2019 linebacker Allen Walker had to sit out over half the season. The 6-foot-2, 195 pound junior played well late last year, he had a good spring and he is starting to pick up interest on the recruiting trail.

"I got the offer a couple of days after I visited in April," said Walker. "I kind of felt they were going to offer, so it was not a real shock, but I was still surprised a little. It was my first offer, so it was hard to know when it was coming for sure, but I had a good feeling after the visit I took."

He first visited Starkville (Miss.) in February, then he returned in March before visiting a third time in April.

He was born in Jackson (Miss.), then moved to McComb (Miss.) before becoming a Georgia resident when he was eight years old. He still has family in Greenville (Miss.).

Being from Mississippi and taking three visits in three months to Mississippi State, Walker has gotten a good feel for the Bulldogs.

"Their facilities are better than what I expected them to be and it is really a good place. I like the coaching staff, I like how the staff treats their kids, I like the weight program and a lot really stood out the times I was there."

Walker has spoken with defensive backs coach Terrell Buckley, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham watched Walker practice in May and both parties appear to have interest in one another.

"I really like Mississippi State a lot," said Walker. "They have offered me first, it has a good feel there and I really do like them a lot right now."

Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford and some others are showing interest in Walker too. One of those schools was his favorite growing up as a child.

"Florida State was my school as a kid. It was all about Deion Sanders. He was a great player and I liked the way he played, the swag he played with and he made me love Florida State."
