Mississippi State commit solid as ever

Craig Jenkins was a key fixture on the Pearl (Miss.) line as a senior, and now says that he is primed to focus on the playoffs with his commitment to Mississippi State out of the way.
“I’ve been playing pretty good, and I just want to finish the season strong,” Jenkins said. “We’re 9-2 and we just started the playoffs, but I think it will go well.”

Jenkins said that there were a number of reasons why he decided to become a Bulldog, and said that they’re now the only team he’s still talking to.
“I talk to Coach McCorvey [Mississippi State assistant head coach Woody] every week, and he’s a real nice guy,” he said. “Mississippi State is the only team that I talk to, and I really like the atmosphere there.
“I also like the new coaching staff, because they know what they want: good players to turn the program around. I’ve talked to Coach Croom [Head coach Sylvester] a couple of times, and he told me what they were trying to do and the goals for his future.”
The offensive guard describes himself as an intense player, and says that he plays each game hoping to make an impact.
“I like doing what I do on the field,” Jenkins said. “I enjoy opening holes for running backs, and it’s really cool to watch them put up points when they get down the field and score. That feels really good.”
