Mississippi RB racking up yards, offers

According to coach Joey Porter of Columbia, Miss., his standout running back Jamal Pittman has an impressive list of scholarship offers.
"Oklahoma is just the latest," Porter said of his 6-foot-2, 225-pound bruiser running back that could also double as a fullback in college.

"Oklahoma called him this weekend and offered, but they're not the only ones. He has offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas and West Virginia. At least those are the ones that I can remember."
Pittman has rushed for 2,950 yards officially and has more than 3,100 yards of total offense.
"He's big enough to run over you, but he's also agile enough to make you miss," Porter said.
"He runs through tackles and has a nice power package. I think he could be a great fullback or a big back in some offenses."
Pittman is just working on official visits with trips to Ole Miss set for Jan. 11 and Arkansas set for Dec. 7. Oklahoma is now very much part of the picture and is expected to get a visit.
"Oklahoma doesn't recruit much down here," Porter said. "But when I talked to their coaches today, they said they found their big back they wanted. But that's nothing new, I've heard that before. He was up at Ole Miss for the big overtime game against Arkansas, and Ole Miss coaches were just gushing over him."
Pittman and Columbia face off against Collins this weekend in the South State championship. The winner advances to the state title game and faces the winner from the North Region.
