Bobby Weakley sounds like a good bet to stay near home
despite a number of other attractive offers from outside the Magnolia State.
"I really don't have a favorite right now who stands
out above everyone else," he said. "I guess you could say I have a top three
-- Southern Miss, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. I'm looking into their
programs to see what they have for football and academics, checking out the
kind of people they have in their program, their character and how they
relate to me, what I can bring to the table and how I fit in. Then I'll make
a decision based on all that."
Weakley also has offers from Maryland and Kentucky.
He is receiving consistent calls and interest from Auburn and LSU.
"I'll set up my official visits once I figure out
who all is going to offer and once we get our season over with," he said.
"Right now, I'm just concentrating on the playoffs."
Weakley has rushed for close to 1,000 yards this
season after assuming the featured back role for Brandon. As a junior, he
amassed 422 yards playing the backup role to All-American Jerious Norwood,
now a freshman at Mississippi State.
He may also be recruited to play defense, perhaps as
an outside linebacker or safety in certain schemes.
"I mainly just want to be on the field," he said. "I
play everything right now, offense, defense and special teams. If I had a
preference, I'd choose offense, but that's not going to be a big factor for
me in where I go."
