Mississippi QB not in a hurry

One of the South's top-rated

pro-style quarterbacks has
drawn quite a bit of attention this month .
Eupora (Miss.) standout
Cliff Davis said he's received
calls from "everybody in the SEC, most of Conference USA and a couple of
other schools" since the beginning of September. "It's hard to keep track of
them all," he said. "But there's been a lot of attention lately."
South Carolina recently visited Eupora to take in
one of Davis' games.
"I didn't get to talk to their coach long because he
had to get on a flight somewhere else in a hurry, but he seemed to be really
interested," he said. "I had a good game that night. We've been playing
great. We're 4-1. My teammates have been making me look real good."
How good?
"I don't know about any of the stats," he said. "The
coaches don't give us those until the end of the season. They don't want us
focusing on that kind of stuff. But I've thrown a lot of touchdown passes."
As a junior, Davis (6-5, 205, 4.7) passed for more
than 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns in earning a spot on the Rivals.com
Mississippi Top 25 team.
He's made two trips for games so far this season,
taking in Memphis' game at Ole Miss and Auburn's game at Mississippi State.
He also has a trip to Florida scheduled to watch the Gators play LSU on Oct.
12.
Has he formed any leaders at this point?
"Sure don't," Davis said. "It's just level right
now. I'm just playing the field. I'm not going to cut anyone short until I
talk to some more people, take some more visits, that sort of thing. I'm not
in a hurry to do anything -- not at all."
