Mississippi QB back from Memphis

Ridgeland (Miss.) Madison Ridgeland Academy quarterback prospect Dallas Walker enjoyed his official visit to Memphis this past weekend. The visit was his first official and put the Tigers in a good position for the Magnolia State athlete.
"(Memphis) is definitely at the top right now," Walker said. "But I haven't been to Mississippi State or Southern Mississippi yet."

Walker added that he is focused on those three programs.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder will visit USM on the weekend of Feb. 2. He is scheduled to take a short trip to Starkville next weekend, but that could be up in the air because of a conflict with basketball.
"We've got two important basketball games to qualify for state playoffs," Walker said. "I'm going to talk with (Mississippi State head coach) Sylvester Croom tonight and see what he says."
Walker likes that Memphis wants to bring him in as a quarterback.
"That's going to be the main thing they want me to do. They told me they didn't want to hear any wide receiver talk. If they feel a need for it, they will talk to me about changing.
"I prefer quarterback, but I don't mind playing wide receiver. The Memphis offense is good for either quarterback or wide receiver."
Sunday morning, Walker and his mother sat down with Memphis head coach Tommy West.
"He was kind of with us off and on throughout the entire visit," Walker said. "We met with him once again this morning. Me and my mom met with him. He just talked with me and asked me how I liked the visit, things like that."
Turner West and Matt Maloof were Walker's player hosts on the visit.
"(Friday night), they took us out and showed us around, introduced us to people and things like that," Walker said. "On Saturday, we toured the campus. Went through the athletic facilities and all that and met a bunch of people."
Walker also met several coaches and is familiar with one new member of the Tigers' coaching staff.
"They've got a coach, Derek Jones, who recruited me from Tulsa. He didn't go to Louisville with the new coach, he came to Memphis instead. I've gotten a chance to visit with him a bit."
Walker also met with Tigers' offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner.
"He showed me some things about the offense that they run," Walker said.
Walker, a two-star rated prospect by Rivals.com, added that he would likely make a final decision following his trip to Southern Miss at the end of the month.
