Mississippi LB/S sets three visits

Three-star Waynesboro (Miss.) Wayne County outside linebacker/safety Wayne Gandy has scheduled his first three official visits.
“I’ll be going to Arizona State on Dec. 12, Auburn on Jan. 16 and Ole Miss on Jan. 23,” he said. “I know I’m going to go to Alabama, too, but I don’t have the date for that one yet.”

Any candidates for a fifth visit?
“I’m kind of keeping that one open just to wait and see what happens,” he said.
Gandy (6-0, 190, 4.5) has offers from all his favorites, as well as Southern Miss, LSU and Nebraska. He is rated the No. 17 outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com.
”I don’t have a favorite right now,” he said. “They’re all close. I like something about every school I’m looking at.
“With Ole Miss, I’ve always followed them being so close to home. They’ve had a great season, and I know I can go in and help them next year. They say I’m going to have a chance to start at safety.
“With Auburn, they’ve been a school I’ve always liked. They have the same colors and uniform style and helmets as our school. I like how they play defense. You get a lot of attention from the League at Auburn.
“With Alabama, I’ve always liked their tradition, and I had a good time when I went there for an unofficial visit. I like the coaching staff they have now and the players down there.
“With Arizona State, it’s a long way away, but I’ve really liked that because of how much interest they’ve shown me. Their coaches really want me there. They’re real up-front and honest guys, so I figured it would be worth my time to go out there and check them out. You never know. I may love the place.”
There’s business to attend to before Gandy makes a decision, though. Wayne County (13-1) is playing Oxford for its second straight Class 4A state championship on Saturday. Gandy has recorded 143 tackles, 11 sacks, three fumble recoveries and one interception this season.
Academically, he carries a 3.0 GPA and has scored an 18 on the ACT.
