Demarcus Scott says he's down to two finalists in his
recruitment.
The powerfully-built Scott (6-1, 246, 4.7) lists LSU
and Tennessee -- last year's SEC division champs -- as his co-leaders and has scheduled an official visit to
Knoxville for Jan. 24.
"That's the first one I've got set, and probably the
only other one I'll take is to LSU. I just don't know when," he said. "But
it will more than likely come down to those two.
"LSU is still my favorite team. They have been for a
long time. They're still out in front, but Tennessee has been coming on real
hard, closing the gap a little bit. I like the way the (Tennessee) coaches
have put so much attention on me lately. That's a great school with a lot of
tradition. I'm looking forward to going up there for the visit, checking everything out.
"As for LSU, again, they were the first team to
offer me and have been there all along. I like their coaches a whole lot. I
feel like I could fit in real well down there with their style. They play
great defense. It's one of the best defenses in the country."
Scott, a member of the Rivals.com
Mississippi Top 30 team and the No. 29 inside linebacker in
the nation, had also been receiving heavy attention from Auburn, Ole Miss,
Mississippi State and Florida, among others.
He capped his senior year at Greenville-Weston with another season of
100-plus tackles. He also recorded one sack and two interceptions. As a
junior, Scott had 104 tackles, eight sacks and two interceptions.
