Mississippi juco to sign with Lobos

Northeast Mississippi Community College wide receiver Chris Brawley plans to sign with New Mexico this week, according to his coach.
“I’m not sure if he’s signed yet, but he is planning to do that sometime soon,” said NECC coach Andy Greening. “He had been looking at Memphis and Middle Tennessee and a few other schools, but liked how he fit in with New Mexico the best.”

Brawley (6-4, 215, 4.55) had approximately 35 catches and five touchdowns this season for the Tigers, but his value extends past the receiving game.
“He’s one of these big, tall receivers that are so popular today,” Greening said, “but what sets him apart from a lot of guys at his position is his willingness to block and the toughness he brings to that spot. The kid loves to block as much as he does making a catch. He’s got the mentality of a defensive player. That’s going to really pay off for him at the next level.”
He is originally from Colbert County High School in Leighton, Alabama. As a senior, he won the state 3A 400 meters and finished second in the 200 meters.
He has three years to play two at New Mexico.
