Alabama leads for DE Moore, but 'I'm a Mississippi boy'

HARVEY, La.Charles Moore has had offers from in-state schools Ole Miss and Mississippi State since he was a freshman at Louisville (Miss.). Georgia has recently offered him, but it is another school that the 6-foot-4, 254 pound sophomore defensive end has high interest in.

Alabama had Moore on campus recently and the Crimson Tide have moved up to the top school on his. Alabama hasn't offered yet, but that doesn't bother Moore.

Could Nick Saban and his program or another school outside of Mississippi get Moore to leave the state? Most top prospects in Mississippi stay home, but Moore is open to doing what is best for him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Alabama is my number one school," said Moore. "I really like how they are critiquing me, showing me how to get better and not just throwing an offer out there to me means something.

"It is like a girl... If a girl comes along and she talks to everyone and gives her number out to everyone, I don't want to be with her. I want it to be more of a challenge, so I like the way Alabama is recruiting me. I saw a lot that I liked when I visited and I will be back for camp.

"I do still like Ole Miss and Mississippi State a lot. At Mississippi State, I love the campus and the at-home atmosphere. Starkville is a small town and I love the feel there. At Ole Miss, it is a school I am very familiar with. I kind of became a fan of Ole Miss my eighth grade year when I started going to games there. Their campus is nice too and it is another school I could see myself at.

"I am a Mississippi boy, so I do love my state. I am going to choose the school that is the best fit for me. I am going to pray about it a lot, but I really haven't thought about making my decision yet. My mom is a very spiritual person, so we will pray a lot and do what the Lord says."

RIVALS REACTION: This is no surprise that Moore has Alabama on top. I spoke with him the day after he visited Tuscaloosa (Ala.) and he shared these same feelings. The ball is somewhat in Alabama's court because they will have to decide if they want to extend an offer to Moore or not. What we know for certain is, the in-state schools are going to fight for this top prospect and in the end, Moore will likely be a tough one to pull out of Mississippi. He plans to take his recruitment all the way to signing day 2019, so a decision is nowhere near for the talented 2019 prospect.
