Miss OL likes Ole Miss, MSU

Batesville (Miss.) Panola High tackle John Jerry has been excited about the progress of his season, and of his recruiting, where he’s received a scholarship offer from Ole Miss.
“I really like Ole Miss and Mississippi State,” Jerry said. “Both have great atmospheres and some of my former teammates play for both of them. They’re also both really close to home.”

Location is clearly a factor for Jerry, who says he plans to take official visits to his final five schools, a list he will finalize by eliminating one more contender.
“My six favorite are Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Auburn, Southern Miss and Memphis. Ole Miss has already given me an offer, too,” Jerry said.
If his final decision comes down to Ole Miss and Mississippi State, don’t be surprised if family members try to influence the large lineman’s decision.
“My cousin JaMarcus is at Ole Miss and my other cousin Ricky Wright is at Mississippi State,” he said. “They both talk to me a little about going there, but I’m going to make my own decision.”
Panola High has burst out to an early 9-0 record, thanks largely to a strong run game and consistent pass blocking from their offensive line. A self-described “aggressive, hustling lineman,” Jerry says he’s always trying to run to the football, which is why he looks up to NFL superstar Warren Sapp.
“Sapp never takes a play off. He hustles, he’s aggressive and he talks trash,” Jerry said. “I really like that.”
