Minnesota TE enjoys Auburn

One of the top tight ends in the Midwest made the long trip south to Auburn last weekend for the Tigers' Big Cat Weekend and he's glad he did.
Will Johnson, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound tight end from Osseo, Minnesota, has an offer from Auburn and while he had been to the South before he had never been to the region for anything related to football. He was impressed by the entire experience and Auburn helped their cause while he was in town.

"It was a real fun weekend there," he recalled. "They had it real planned out. I got to meet a lot of the coaches and I got to talk to Coach (Gene) Chizik.
"I had been down in that area before but not for football. They're real into the family thing and being a football team. I can tell football is a big priority there, as it should be."
Jay Boulware, Auburn's tight ends coach, spent a good amount of time talking to Johnson.
"He and I spent about an hour just talking about how I'd fit in," Johnson explained. "He talked about how they use their tight ends. He seems like a real good guy and a real good coach."
Johnson will be traveling to the Deep South again on June 17, when he will be visiting Ole Miss. He also has upcoming trips to Michigan State and Boston College. Coaches from those schools know he's coming but don't have any dates carved out yet.
These trips are crucial because Johnson may have a decision sooner rather than later.
"I'd love to get it done before my season," he said. "I just want to focus on my senior year and my team.
"Right now I've got to get out and see some more schools. I'm liking the ones I've seen so far. I really like Iowa, I liked Minnesota and Auburn was real fun. I would say I have a top (school) or anything, though."
