Minnesota junior DE talks recruiting

Maple Plains (Minn.) junior strongside defensive end prospect Sean McWhirter (6-foot-4, 245 pounds) is one name to definitely remember from the state of Minnesota's football recruiting Class of 2006.
"So far I've been getting quite a bit of mail from several schools," McWhirter said. "I've been invited to junior day events at Minnesota, Northwestern and Notre Dame."

McWhirter, who also runs track for Orono
High School (shot/discus/200 meters and 400 meters) is also planning to visit those three schools this winter.
"I'm planning to visit the Northwestern junior day this coming Saturday, then I'm also going to visit the Notre Dame junior day the following Saturday. I'm also going to check out the Minnesota junior day I think a week from Wednesday."
McWhirter, who is still looking for his first scholarship offer, talked about who he's receiving mail from over the last few months.
"Minnesota, Duke, Georgia, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Alabama, Kentucky, Illinois, TCU, Iowa, Louisville, Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Boston College and Kansas have all been sending me mail on a pretty consistent basis."
McWhirter admits that he's still wide open when it comes to any favorites at this point of his recruiting process, yet McWhirter also admits that a few schools have caught his early eye.
"I'm still pretty wide open at this point, and I'm staying open to any school that is interested in recruiting me at this point. I'll tell you that Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Louisville are four schools that I'm looking at for now and those schools seem very interested in recruiting me."
