Mims returns from Northwestern visit

The Woodlands, Texas defensive end Kevin Mims took his second official visit and it will most likely be his last.
“The visit to Northwestern went real well,” the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Mims said. “I enjoyed the win over Penn State. I got to sit in the snow for a while. I got to see how cold it could be.

“The guys I met and talked to were really nice. I really enjoyed everything. The academic side of the school was great and obviously they are winning again. They are 5-5 and that helps. They are on the rise, I think.”
After visiting Texas Tech last weekend and Northwestern this weekend, does the three-star rated end have a favorite?
“I’m not going to put one school at the top,” he said. “Northwestern is definitely up there. But both them and Texas Tech offer a lot of positives.”
A decision for Mims could come anytime, but his father has set a date for the process to be over.
“My dad and I have talked. I will make my decision by Dec. 13. I probably won’t be taking any other visits. If another school pops up between now and then, I’ll have to research it as much as I can and go from there. I’m still looking at Utah and Colorado State because they are good offers. But, if I really needed to, I could take one that weekend, then come home and decide.”
Mims has helped The Woodlands to a 10-0 start on the season. They prepare for the first round of playoffs this week against Jersey Village.
