COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The most recent offer for highly touted linebacker prospect Von Miller was Texas Tech. However, the Desoto, Texas native worked out at the NIKE Training Camp with the defensive lineman and showed well enough to think about more offers coming.
Miller, a 6-foot-2, 211-pound defender who's played mostly along the defensive line in high school, went with what he knows. While schools are recruiting him at linebacker, he says his size and speed helped him perform well at the NIKE Camp.
"I worked out with the defensive ends and I did okay," Miller said. "My speed and agility helped me out a lot. I wasn't the same size as everybody else, but I think that helped me move around really well out there and get passed some bigger players."
The recent offer from Texas Tech was one he has kept on his mind, but is not leaning anywhere as of right now.
"That came this past Tuesday," Miller said about the offer from the Red Raiders. "It was cool. I'm thinking about it but I don't have any favorites right now. I'm going to try to make my decision as close to Signing Day as possible."
Miller knows about how his college pick may really have a dramatic impact on his football career and college life.
"I don't want to make schools wait around for me, but this is the most important decision in my life," he said. "I just want to make sure I do what's best for me."
Miller holds offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.
