Miller likes Oregon State trip

“It’s all Beavers up there,” Ricky Miller, the talented two-way player for Tustin, Calif. high school, said after his visit to Oregon State on Nov. 16.
“They played Northern Arizona, but they still sold the whole place out. It was really cool.”

Miller, who is 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, played running back for most of his senior season, rushing for 980 yards and 18 touchdowns before his team was bounced from the playoffs because of an ineligible player.
The last two games of the year, Miller also played middle linebacker.
He registered 11 stops and one sack in his first game and 16 tackles and two sacks in the second.
“We were gearing up for the playoffs,” Miller said. “I was going to play both ways all the way through.”
Miller says that all of the colleges are recruiting him specifically as a linebacker, and that’s also the position he was selected to play in the Cali-Florida Bowl.
While Oregon State impressed Miller, he’s still not ready to determine a favorite among his college choices. He still has visits left with Fresno State on Nov. 30, Oregon on Dec. 7 and Wisconsin on Dec. 14. Washington is also in the picture.
“I like the Northwest schools. I don’t know why but I just kind of like them.”
The Ducks’ visit is a new one on his list, and with Washington and Oregon State already in the picture, it’s clear that Miller is following through on his inclination for the Pacific Northwest.
But Fresno State also has designs on Miller. The FSU coaches made an in-home visit on Sunday and head coach Pat Hill is expected for a home visit sometime next week. Oregon State head coach Dennis Erickson is also expected to make a home visit sometime next week.
Miller has no timetable for his college decision.
Also on their official visits that weekend to Oregon State, according to Miller, were James Finley and Arthur Giddens of Los Angeles’ Manual Arts High School, a defensive end from the state of Washington and two City College of San Francisco prospects.
