Miller de-commits from Purdue

Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern three-star linebacker Collin Miller ended a four-plus month commitment to Purdue on Monday, announcing his de-commitment on his Twitter page. Miller had been a soft commitment almost since the beginning, admitting last month that he likely made his decision too early. He left the door open for remaining committed to the Boilermakers, however, until Monday's announcement.

WHAT'S NEXT?: The team that could benefit the most here is the other Big Ten in-state program, Indiana, where Miller has visited several times since his commitment to Purdue. Based on the number of schools he plans to evaluate going forward, though, it does not appear that a decision should be expected any time soon and could extend out to National Signing Day or even into the Signing Period. At this point, Purdue is not expected to have a chance at reclaiming his commitment.
OTHERS SCHOOLS IN CONTENTION: Shortly after announcing his de-commitment from Purdue, Miller told me he will be considering Syracuse, Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, California, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State going forward. He has already scheduled one official visit to Syracuse the weekend of Dec. 4.
RIVALS' REACTION: That Miller has de-committed from Purdue is not a surprise. Soon after his commitment back in June he took all Purdue mentions off of his Twitter profile and went silent from the media, admitting only a couple months later that while he was still committed, he was having second thoughts. Miller is a big and athletic 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker prospect, who has also played defensive end during his high school career. He is ranked as the No. 37 outside linebacker in a deep year for the position and his skills should be in high demand.
