Harrisburg, Pa. running back Mikell Simpson is a day away from making his announcement live on ESPNews Wednesday at between 3:30 and 4PM EST. Is it down to two schools for the nation's No. 14 tailback?
"Yes, it's down to Virginia and Alabama," said Simpson. "Florida told me they have a running back committed but didn't say who it was. It must be one of those quiet verbals. I had known Virginia and Alabama quite a bit longer anyhow."
How did Simpson narrow his choices down to the two schools?
"It really came down to looking at the schools that wanted me as a running back and then checking out those schools," he said. "I took five official visits to schools that had a good situation for me at running back and came down to Alabama and Virginia."
Simpson thinks he can play early at both schools.
"Alabama has a good situation because Ken Darby is coming back, but he's been injured and they need someone to step in if he can't go," said Simpson. "Virginia has Wali Lundy coming back and part of me was hoping he'd have a great season and turn pro, but Al Groh proved that he'll play the best running back no matter what."
Does he know where he's going right now?
"Yes, I'm pretty sure," he said. "I'll let everyone know tomorrow on ESPNews."
