Mike Jones claims first offer

Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt cornerback Mike Jones has acquired his first offer. Who has already pulled the trigger on the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder?
"I believe I have an offer from Miami (Ohio)," he said. "My coach told me that they other day and I'm happy about it. I'm also hearing that Syracuse is really interested and the coaches want to meet all of us and possibly offer."

Jones is in the process of scheduling quite a few unofficial visits.
"I'm trying to get to Miami (Ohio) soon," he said. "On Thursday I'm going to Syracuse and then sometime this summer I want to get out to Virginia Tech and a Notre Dame camp.
"Last week I went to Penn State and liked that. It was real nice and I got to tour the campus and watch practice, a highlight video and meet the coaches. I talked with Larry Johnson and he's a real cool guy."
With one offer in the bag, does the Keystone State prospect have any leaders?
"Not at all," he stated. "I grew up a big Virginia and Virginia Tech fan. I liked them a lot when Marcus Vick was there and then I've got family from Penn State and Notre Dame and some in West Virginia. I don't think any of that really plays a factor.
"I'm just obviously looking for something to fall back on in case football doesn't work out. I'm thinking I want to do law or engineering. As for location, I kind of want to get out of Pennsylvania."
