Mike Cruz announces top five

Three-star tight end Mike Cruz out of Johnstown (Pa.) Bishop McCort has announced a top five. Rivals caught up with the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder to find out who has made the cut.
"I have a top five," he said. "It's Pittsburgh, Clemson, Akron, Illinois and Florida State.

"Pittsburgh is in there because it's close to home and like their style of offense. The coaches there are really nice. I feel if I go there and do what I have to do, I'll get on the field since they aren't really deep at tight end.
"Akron is close and my brother goes there. That's not a big reason, but I am familiar with them. They are also recruiting me as a defensive end and I know the coaches are awesome.
"As for the other three, I've got a great relationship with my recruiter from Illinois. I know for a fact they put people on the field no matter what grade you're in. Clemson and Florida State both have good reputations and coaches."
Cruz confirmed that he believes these are his final five.
Has he scheduled any visits?
"I'll probably start those at the beginning of December after the season."
On the gridiron, the No. 27 tight end in the country has helped his team to a 3-0 start.
"We're young, but we're quick, shifty and fast," he said. "I've been doing really well. I only have one catch for 22-yards. I'm doing a lot of blocking and I'm picking up where I left off last year especially with my knee."
