Midwest lineman makes pick
Three-star offensive tackle Fred McConnell of Southfield, Mich., had originally planned to take an official visit to Stanford in January before making a final decision. But apparently his plans have changed.
That’s because the 6-foot-5, 320-pound McConnell has committed to Northwestern. McConnell visited Northwestern back on December 6 and was slated to visit Stanford on January 10.

Nebraska was also trying to become a player in the race, but McConnell decided to end it with his commitment.
“It just felt right,” McConnell said after his visit to Northwestern. “I had a great visit up there and it just felt right.”
