Midwest LB is red hot

Ashwaubenon, Wis., outside linebacker Michael Taylor is one of the fastest rising players in the Midwest. After picking up early offers from Air Force, Wyoming, North Dakota State and Army, he added a Big Ten offer recently.
"Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State, Indiana, Air Force, Army, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Wyoming, Michigan and some Ivy League schools are the ones that came by to look at me this month," Taylor, who is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, said. "I just got a big offer from Iowa. It's exciting.
"On June 2nd I'm going to Iowa. I'm going to camps at Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa."
Taylor said he's very interested in all the teams on his list, but a few do stand out.
"Of my scholarships I'd say Iowa is my leader just because they're so close and they're a quality D-I program," he said. "But I'm basically still wide open. I grew up rooting for Wisconsin. But I'd say Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Western Michigan are my top teams now."
As a junior, Taylor was a first-team all-state selection and the player of the year in the Green Bay area, he hopes he can do better as a senior.
"I'd like to work on my inside play," he said. "I think I'm pretty good going side to side and running down some people. But what I really want to improve on is playing inside and getting on blocks more. Just taking it to the middle more and playing head on.
"I start practice back on August 2nd I think. I'm going to be work out basically every chance I get this summer. We play Bayport first week. Hopefully we'll win. They're a rival."
