Mid-South: Top 5 uncommitted players
Advertisement
The Skinny: Jones currently has a top 10 of Texas A&M,
there as well. He wants to trim his list to five or six before the end of the
summer and Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, and Alabama are five schools he
expects to make the cut. The four-star plans to take his official visits and knows Ohio
State and Oregon are two schools who will receive official visits. He does not
plan to announce a commitment until after the season at the earliest and Signing
Day at the latest.
If today were Signing Day ... Jones would sign with Texas A&M. It looks like LSU and Texas are going to make this one very interesting, but Texas A&M jumped out early. The Aggies were the first to offer and there is a strong connection with several members of the Aggie coaching staff. He has visited College Station several times and he is familiar with the atmosphere. Jones has backed off talk of Texas A&M being his leader, but the Aggies have had a seat way up front from the beginning.

WDE
Trophy Club (Texas) Byron Nelson
The Skinny: Bowen does not list any leaders and he does not give many clues about where he may be leaning. At the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships, he said Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma State were recruiting
him the hardest. The four-star plans to announce his commitment before the start of the season. In the past, he has
stated he is looking for a program with strong academics, a high graduation rate and a history of preparing prospects for the NFL.
If today were Signing Day ... Bowen would choose Baylor. This one is a complete guess. Bowen has kept everyone guessing and he does not give a lot of hints. However, Baylor was one school to get in on him early and the Bears have remained in constant contact. He likes Baylor's "hype-up, go-get-it" atmosphere, and track could also remain in his future. It is just a shot in the dark, but Baylor is the guess.

S
Manvel, Texas
The Skinny: It looks like a top five is just around the corner for Anderson and he knows LSU, Texas and Ole Miss are three schools that will make the cut. Texas A&M and Alabama have also figured heavily in his recruitment. The four-star does not have any unofficial visit plans scheduled at time. As for official visits, he plans to visit each of the schools in his top five. LSU and Ole Miss are the schools Anderson says are currently recruiting him the hardest.
If today were Signing Day ... Anderson would take his talents to Texas. Anderson has not named the Longhorns his leader but the guys in Austin have been hard after Anderson since Charlie Strong's arrival. The relationship is a strong one, and Anderson has made his way to the area on several occasions over the years. It also does not hurt that the Longhorns have a commitment from Reggie Hemphill, who is a teammate of Anderson's at Manvel.

WR
Sachse, Texas
The Skinny: Duvernay is planning to name a preseason top 10 and he feels Texas, Baylor, TCU, Alabama and Auburn will make the cut when he decides to trim his list. The four-star wants to name a top five around the middle of the
season, and he wants to take his official visits to those five programs. Track will also factor into his position -- he is one of the top 100 meter guys in the country -- and he would like to play college ball with his brother Donovan Duvernay.
If today were Signing Day ... Duvernay would add more speed to Baylor's receiving corps. The Baylor Bears were the first to offer and have been among his top group of schools from the very beginning. The Bears have also already offered his brother Donovan, and have a strong program in track. It also does not hurt that the Bears have had a lot of success with extremely fast, strong receivers in Briles' wide-open offense.
There are two players in the Mid-South who are committed but still entertaining suitors from other programs. Here are two prospects that seem to be looking around despite their commitments.
1
OLB
Manor, Texas
The Skinny: Fowler committed to LSU in early June. Before the Tigers even offered, Fowler admitted they were a program he would like to hear more from because he grew up a fan. When they offered it was not long before he made his decision. Before committing to LSU, there were a few other programs heavily involved. Texas, Baylor, TCU, UCLA and Oklahoma were programs most often mentioned. He plans to attend the Texas Under the Lights camp in Austin as well as check out Baton Rouge before the start of the season.
If today were Signing Day ... Fowler would stick to his guns and head to LSU. Texas continues to make a push and the Longhorns will receive a summer visit, but LSU is the childhood favorite and he fits the scheme. The pull of Les Miles, Baton Rouge and the SEC win out, and Fowler decides to stick with make his way to Death Valley.
2
WR
DeSoto, Texas
The Skinny: Anderson pledged his commitment to LSU last summer, but he has been open about taking other visits. He plans to attend the Texas Under the Lights Camp in July, and the Longhorns are the one program that would seem to give the Tigers a push right now. He plans to visit LSU in late July and he would like to take official visits to LSU, Texas and UCLA. While he openly talks about taking his visits he is also very clear about LSU being at the top of his list and being solidly committed.
If today were Signing Day ... Anderson would stick to his pledge to LSU and sign with the Tigers. The Longhorns appear to be the biggest threat for the talented receiver, but he grew up a big fan of the Tigers and he has grown very familiar with all LSU has to offer.
