Sandidge waited to take his official visits and is making good progress heading into the third weekend of January. Last weekend he took an official visit to Georgia and this weekend he will return to Chapel Hill for his second of three planned official visits. After North Carolina in a few days, South Carolina will get an official visit during the final weekend of January. It’s unlikely he takes his two remaining official visits before announcing a decision. Georgia did a good job with Sandidge last weekend but it seems as if the Dawgs are still playing from behind. South Carolina has been and it looks to be Sandidge’s favorite.

Prediction: South Carolina

The end of Walker’s recruitment is getting closer. Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech are his top contenders but the Nittany Lions seem to have a slight lead. Ohio State, however, gets Walker for what he says will be his final official visit this weekend. Penn State and Virginia Tech have already hosted Walker for official visits so Ohio State getting the last crack at Walker is big for the Buckeyes. If Walker had to commit today he would probably choose Penn State, but who knows what the outcome of Walker’s official visit to Ohio State will be.

Prediction: Penn State

Friday announced this week that he will commit on Friday during a ceremony at his school. Michigan was seen as the leader for a long time but over the last two months Ohio State seems to have surpassed the Wolverines, and Alabama has made a strong push as well. All three schools have hosted Friday for an official visit and they have each done in-home visits, the last two were from Ohio State and Alabama last Friday. It appears Ohio State has the momentum and Friday will likely choose the Buckeyes later this week.

Prediction: Ohio State

A former USC commit, Salahuddin has shifted his focus back to schools on the East Coast because he wants to be a little closer to home. Syracuse and Pittsburgh have surfaced as the frontrunners, with both scheduled to receive official visits over the next two weekends. Interestingly enough, both schools have former teammates of Salahuddin on their roster or in their recruiting class. Pitt’s defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman went to Salahuddin’s high school and Syracuse signee Edward Hendrix is Salahuddin’s current teammate. The rumor is that Syracuse holds a slight lead and the Orange have a good chance of extending that lead this weekend with Salahuddin on campus for his official visit.

Prediction: Syracuse

Stanford, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Clemson are the top contenders for Hollifield and a decision could come before the end of the month. Stanford, the leader for Hollifield, hosted him for an official visit last weekend and the Cardinal remain in the driver’s seat. Things will have to take a big turn for either Virginia Tech or North Carolina to jump over Stanford. Clemson is a still in a position to make a run here. There is a possibility Hollifield visits the nearby campus some time before he commits, but Clemson’s chances remain slim unless that takes place.

Prediction: Stanford
