Michigan, UF, ND lead for QB

In early January, Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep quarterback Chris Whitney picked up his first offer from Rutgers. What's been going on with the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder since then?

"I've been getting a lot of mail from schools recently including Michigan, Penn State, Maryland, Iowa, Virginia and even some from USC," he said. "Right now I'd say my favorites are Michigan, Notre Dame and Florida. I like Michigan because they've been sending me a lot of stuff.
"Notre Dame is nice because my brother went to school there and I grew up a fan of them. Then Florida stands out since it's a school I grew up liking."
Whitney is looking for a few things out of his future college.
"I really want to go somewhere I'm going to have a chance to play," he said. "Besides that, I want to go into a throwing offense and then education wise I plan to major in sports medicine.
"One factor that will be important to me in making my decision besides playing early is my family. I want them to be able to travel to watch my games and I'm going to be looking to see which schools already have quarterbacks."
Growing up the quarterback prospect idolized a local legend in Philadelphia's Randall Cunningham.
"I really like how he was a leader on the team and I try to follow that in my game," he said. "I think I have a good ability to throw on the run and good arm strength like him too."
Currently Whitney has no combines or camps scheduled this spring and summer.
As a junior, Whitney was named MVP of the league after accounting for nearly 2,000 yards of offense and 25 touchdowns.
