Michigan State lands Georgia DE Simeon Barrow

Michigan State beat out Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia Tech for Simeon Barrow. The 6-foot-3, 254 pound defensive out of Grovetown (Ga.) took his official visit to East Lansing in June, and at that time the Spartans took the lead.

A week ago, Barrow let Michigan State know of his decision and it is now known publicly.

"It is a great feeling right now," said Barrow about his decision. "I didn't think it would happen for me like this. I did not expect to get to this point, so this is a very special time for me."

Michigan State was the first Power 5 school to offer back in January, and that has kept the Spartans on Barrow's mind since.

After spending the weekend there late in June, it was pretty much over.

"I really thought hard about this about two or three weeks ago. I knew I had to make a decision sooner or later, so I thought it about it, and it was Michigan State.

"During the visit, Michigan State showed me a lot. It was a great trip up there. It is a little far from home, but the coaching staff has great knowledge, the coaching really push their players, the coaches have great expectations and I love the chance I have to play as a freshman there.

"The coaches from Michigan State have been showing me love every day, so when I told them of my decision, they were all excited. They were all happy. I know they really wanted me."

Official visits to other schools are still a possibility, but Barrow feels good about his decision.

"I am very happy with Michigan State," said Barrow. "I will still take some visits more than likely, but my mind is definitely all Michigan State right now. I like the school a lot and I love the coaches up there."
