Michigan State impresses Jersey back

Gerald Owens of Westville (N.J.) West Deptford has gathered an impressive offer list and now he is trying to visit as many schools as he can.
His last trip was to East Lansing and Michigan State two weeks ago. The Spartans are recruiting the 6-foot-2, 248-pound prospect as a running back and it was Owens' first trip to the school.

"I loved it up there," Owens said. "It was cool getting out there and everything. The coaches are real friendly and the practices looked very intense. The team looked like they were really family-oriented and they're serious about their nutrition, the weight room and all that. I really liked the campus too."
Owens is not sure what is next for him, but he has been in steady contact with several of the schools that have offered, and some that have not, on Facebook especially.
"They've just been adding me or sending me mail. I've been kinda seeing what schools are trying to get me out there to see spring games and things like that," he said.
Another prestigious Midwestern program is showing interest, though they have not offered yet.
"Recently I've been talking to [defensive coordinator] Bob Diaco from Notre Dame. They would take me as an inside 'backer," he said. "I'm okay with that. I'm open to anything because this is all a blessing. I'm blessed to get everything. All the offers, all the interest."
