Michigan stars steal the show at Illinois combine

This past Saturday saw the MSL combine make it's latest stop to Evanston, Illinois and Northwestern University. Nearly 120 participants from seven different states made the most out of the NFL style combine in a full day of testing.
With this latest MSL combine being held in the Land of Lincoln on Saturday, you'd expect several prospects from Illinois to stand out. While the state if Illinois was well represented on Saturday, the story of this latest MSL combine was the performance of several out of state prospects.

A few of the several standout performances on Saturday came from two prospect from Southfield, Mich.
Junior wide receiver prospect Derrick Hunter (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is a two-sport athlete (football/track) who has hopes of performing in the Olympics someday. From Hunter's performance on Saturday in the speed portion of the combine, who's to say that can't happen? Hunter fired off an impressive 4.5/40 electronically timed 40 yard dash and also performed well in several agility drills, drawing several dropped draws and applause from the combine participants. Hunter, who attended a recent Michigan State junior day event was hoping to just get some notice on Saturday.
"I have several track meets in May, so I won't be able to attend too many combines for football," Hunter said. "I came to the MSL combine just to see how well I matched up with some other players. I also came here to hopefully draw some recruiting interest."
Hunter's teammate and fellow wide receiver prospect Lyndon Johnson (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) also ran well and impressed on Saturday. Johnson, who also runs track at Southfield High School has the look of a very solid prospect after his performance on Saturday.
Junior defensive end prospect Rob Tennyson (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) from the Academy of Holy Angels High School hails from Egan, Minnesota and Tennyson represented the Land of 10,000 Lakes well on Saturday. Tennyson has great size and overall skills, and Tennyson shows his overall athletic ability and skills on Saturday and has the look of a sought after prospect.
Xenia (Ohio) quarterback prospect Joshua Cousins (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) made the long drive to Evanston count on Saturday. Cousins performed well in all testing phases and could definitely draw recruiting interest from his overall physical tools alone.
Even the state of Wyoming was represented on Saturday. Junior linebacker prospect Dan Bather from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Wyoming made the trip to Evanston, and Bather looked solid in all phases on Saturday.
As mentioned earlier, the state of Illinois was well represented at the MSL Combine on Saturday.
Several Illinois based prospects performed well, including Springfield defensive back Robert Smith, Evanston defensive end/outside linebacker Stephen Hicks, York inside linebacker Ron Britton and Lake Forest wide receiver Shaun Moore.
The Chicago Public League was also represented well on Saturday, and several players that made impressions includes Chicago Hubbard cornerback Kevin Taylor and strong safety prospect Frank Trigg, Morgan Park outside linebacker Austin Cook, Lane Tech wide receiver Xavier Torrez as well as Westinghouse defensive back LaRone Franklin and wide receiver Marquail Johnson.
