Midland, Mich., will be home to one of the biggest games in the state on Friday night. That’s when Midland High battles rival Midland H.H. Dow for a shot at the state playoffs. And two-star running back Jalen Parmele plans on doing his best to beat the cross-town rival.
“This is our biggest game of the year,” Parmele, who is 6-foot and 200 pounds, said. “They have like 20 wins against us and we’ve only won nine or so games in the series. They’re also unbeaten and expected to go to the playoffs, so if we win it’ll really ruin their season.”
Parmele said he hopes to keep racking up the yards on Friday night.
“I have 1,300 yards this season and 21 touchdowns,” he said. “They have the top ranked defense in the Valley, so it will be key for us to go out there and get something going on offense.”
Parmele said things are going about the same on the recruiting front. He has a visit lined up with Central Michigan for December 5. He’s also talked to Toledo and Western Michigan in the last week about taking official visits there. He has offers from those teams, along with one from Eastern Michigan.
However, Parmele said he’s still getting regular calls from Wisconsin, Michigan State and Iowa and its teams like that which have him hoping for a bigger D-I offer.
“They haven’t talked too much about an offer yet,” he said. “But all I can worry about is what’s going to happen Friday night. If I continue to do what I do best, the rest will take care of itself.”
