Michigan QB keeping options open

Dexter, Mich., two-star quarterback Jeff Ziegler is ranked as one of the top 20 players in Michigan and with a solid senior season it's easy to see why. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound pro-style quarterback threw for 1,896 yards and 19 touchdowns with only nine interceptions.
"I was definitely pleased with how I played," Ziegler said. "But I am disappointed we didn't make the playoffs. We finished 5-4 on the season, but I had my moments. There was this one game where I threw for 330 yards and had three touchdown passes and two rushing scores."

Ziegler is now turning his attention to both basketball and to the recruiting process. Hoops starts for him this Monday and with his frame and ability he'll easily make the team. The recruiting process hasn't been as easy to figure out.
"I'm still getting a lot of stuff and talking to MAC and some Big 10 schools," Ziegler said. "Big 10 wise, I talk most to Michigan State and Iowa. I'm e-mailing Iowa and talking to Michigan State every week weeks. I think, I'm most likely going to end up in the MAC, though."
The likely candidates are Toledo and Western Michigan, who are in constant communication. Toledo assistant coach John Carr and Western Michigan assistant Steve Morrison are involved for their schools.
"Caoch Carr is awesome," Ziegler said. "I've been down there a few times, and I think Toledo is closest to making a scholarship offer. I'm going to Western Michigan this weekend for an unofficial visit. Coach Morrison is a good guy."
