This past weekend the Michigan Wolverines held a junior day which was attended by some of the top Midwest prospects in the class of 2007.
Saline, Mich., fullback and defensive tackle Vince Helmuth was offered a scholarship by the Wolverines and quickly committed.
However Helmuth was not the only junior from the state of Michigan to land a scholarship offer from the Wolverines over the weekend.

"I attended the junior day at Michigan last weekend and was offered by coach Carr," offensive lineman Darris Sawtelle said. "I have been offered a scholarship by the University of Tennessee, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Toledo."
Sawtelle has been impressed by the coaches at all of the schools that have extended a scholarship offer.
"The head coaches and the staff of these incredible schools have been awesome," he said. "I have been recruited by Penn State and was invited to their junior day in February."
The 6-foot-5 and 285-pound Sawtelle has also mentioned Purdue, Ohio State, Auburn, and Boston College among the schools he is interested in.
Another top prospect in the Michigan class of 2007 to land a scholarship offer from Michigan over the weekend is Orchard Lake St. Marys wide receiver Taurian Washington. Washington lists Michigan State, Iowa, Oregon, and Illinois among his other early scholarship offers.
The 6-foot-0 and 167-pound Washington has also mentioned Wisconsin, Ohio State, Miami, and Notre Dame among the schools he is interested in.
