Michigan LB has two offers

Holt, Mich., inside linebacker Mitch Zajac considers himself to be a true inside linebacker. His domain is inside, and the 164 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and five sacks he recorded in 2006 prove that to be true.
"Definitely my biggest strength is run stopping between the tackles," Zajac, who is 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, said. "I'd like to work on my foot speed. Agility wise I can hang with the best of them but I just want to work on my 40-yard dash time."

He also has other big goals for the 2007 season.
"Individually, I want to average around 20 tackles a game," he said. "Last year I averaged around 15. Then hopefully we can compete for a state championship, because we've got a lot of guys coming back. So the team chemistry is definitely there."
When it comes to recruiting Zajac has two offers on the table from Western Michigan and Central Michigan.
"Western just offered me a scholarship," he said. "That was exciting. Central has been in contact a lot, too, so has Eastern Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. There's a couple schools I'd like to hit for camps over the summer like Stanford and possibly Arizona State. But I really don't have any leaders. I've kind of eliminated the ones that don't show much interest."
Zajac would love to get more interest from Michigan.
"I've followed Michigan for a long time," he said. "My dad is a big time Michigan fan. So we have always kind of watched them. They're right down the road from us.
"I was going to go down to their spring game, but I couldn't make it. Then they wanted me to come to two of their days for camp on the 18th and 19th, so I'm pretty excited about that. I've been talking to coach Steve Stripling off and on, and I've been talking to their linebacker coach (Steve Szabo) as well."
Regardless, Zajac knows what will be important when it comes time to make a decision.
"I'm definitely looking for a good combination of academics and athletics," he said. "That's why I'm interested in Stanford because they are highly known for their academics and they are competitive in football."
