Michigan latest to offer Rivals100 OT Richmond

Class of 2015 Rivals100 Memphis (Tenn.) University School offensive tackle Drew Richmond may have grown up rooting for Ohio State, but that doesn't mean he wasn't thrilled to add an offer from the Buckeyes biggest rival on Super Bowl Sunday.
"Michigan offered me today so that was a big one," Richmond said. "It's the biggest fan base in the country and it takes years to get season tickets if you're a fan so that shows how much they love the game."

Richmond, who participated in the Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour over the summer, said he pays close attention to where other big-time recruits end up.
"Jabrill Peppers is going there so there must be an upside to the program," Richmond said.
As far as his familiarity with the coaching staff, Richmond said he's just getting to know offensive line coach Darrell Funk, but is familiar with new offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, who recruiting Richmond when he was at Alabama.
"I don't really know much about the offensive line coach because this is the first time we've talked," Richmond said. "But I think I can fit in with any offense, honestly. I know what Coach Nussmeier was doing at Alabama and I'm sure it will be pretty similar."
The offer from the Wolverines caps off a busy week for Richmond, who saw Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and Will Muschamp come by campus.
"I'm actually glad the week is over," Richmond said. "I just need a little break for a while. Things were pretty hectic this week."
Richmond said one of the schools that caught his interest since the contact period ended is Auburn, which has floated some interesting ideas about how Richmond will play early in his career.
"Shon Coleman came in and was used as a blocking tight end," Richmond said. "They told me that when I get there Coleman will be starting and they would give me that chance to be a blocking tight end to just get on-field experience."
When it comes to schools that are mentioned with Richmond, the Tigers don't often come to mind. However, he did say that they have been making him a priority.
"Auburn has been coming at me hard just like everyone else but they've probably been coming a little harder," Richmond said. "When I sat down and thought about it they've been coming every week to check in."
As far as favorites Richmond said he still doesn't have any schools that stand out. He plans to take some visits during the spring but has yet to set any definite plans.
