Michigan fullback hard to forget

Livonia (Mich.) Clarenceville fullback Marcus Watkins knows there are plenty of other big-name running backs in the state of Michigan for the class of 2007. But he's hoping that people also don't forget about him.
With his 1,098 yards rushing, 10 touchdowns and all-metro honors forgetting him might be tough.

"I'm a punishing fullback that can also make people miss in open space," Watkins said. "I might not be the fastest guy out there (4.8 seconds in the 40-yard dash), but I get things done."
Watkins is already starting to get things done on the recruiting front. He's getting the most regular early mail from Toledo, but others like Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State are also corresponding.
"I'm going to pick a school based on the academics and the football program," he said. "Those things will be important to me."
Watkin's uncler played was a four-year starter at Northwestern and played for a little bit in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and in the Canadian Football League. His cousin, Jemere Gainer, also just recently signed with Southern Illinois.
