Michigan, Florida State make early impression on 2020 DT Westley Neal

The Latest: It was a busy summer for Class of 2020 defensive tackle Westley Neal as he spent his time hitting various campuses around the country to participate and camps and show was he's capable of on the field. His showings earned him several offers, most notably, Michigan and Florida State. Rivals.com caught up with Neal at the recent Miami Dolphins High School Media Day to talk about his interest in the Wolverines and Seminoles.

Michigan: "They offered me after the camp and since then they’ve been telling me a lot. I like it up there. I want to go back for a game in the winter so I can see what it’s like when it’s cold. But the coaches, they said they like how aggressive I am. They said that I’m pretty short but they like that I can get leverage and cause multiple guys to have to block me in games. I don’t know that much about their defense but I know they have some guys like Devin Bush and Rashan Gary. I had a chance to meet them when I went up there. They are pretty nice guys and pretty cool. The tradition is cool. It’s quiet up there on campus. It was good to work with the defensive line coach. He’s intense, the kind of guy that expects you to listen and pay attention and I like that about him. I really want to get back up there for a game."

Florida State: "They offered me and they told me they like my aggressiveness. They were on me to commit when I was up there but I told them I want to wait a little bit and see how things go. They have had some guys like me in the past, my size and my skillset and some of them have gone onto the NFL. It’s an in-state school and that’s cool but that’s not going to be a factor for me. But I did grow up watching them play. The indoor facility stood out. It was pretty impressive. Coach Taggart is a nice guy and my mom spoke to him and she really liked him. I’m going to go back up for a game this fall."
