Michael Bumpus a jack-of-all-trades

Four star wide receiver Michael Bumpus (6-0, 185, 4.5) from Culver City, Calif., is having a fantastic senior season helping his team to a 3-1 record. Bumpus and his teammates were drubbed in the opener against SS CIF Division I number one ranked Los Alamitos, Calif. Since then Culver City has run off three straight victories.
The amazing thing about Bumpus and his senior season journey is he’s been a Jack-of-all-trades. He is getting the job done at quarterback and defensive back instead of wide receiver at the present time.

Bumpus is playing quarterback because junior quarterback (and someone to watch for next season) Chris Cueva (6-3, 215, 4.8) is nursing a concussion.
In relief of Cueva, Bumpus rushed for 147 yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns in a victory against Los Angeles (Calif.) Hamilton.
Against West Torrance, Calif., Bumpus rushed for 102 yards on seven carries, including a 58 yard gallop for a score. He also hit on three of six passes in the 41-7 romp over West Torrance.
Bumpus has only played two and half games this season due to an injury he suffered in the opener against Los Alamitos. He has only played one half of football as a wide receiver in 2003.
Besides playing quarterback and wide receiver for Culver City the versatile Bumpus has also played safety and corner on the defensive side of the ball.
Bumpus may even add running back to his resume before the season is over.
Bumpus will be packing his bags and will take his first official visit this weekend to Washington State. Former Culver City high standout Karl Paymah will be his host.
Paymah is one of the starting corners for the Cougars.
Bumpus took an unofficial visit to LSU over the summer and he has set an official visit to Baton Rouge campus (November 11th).
According to Culver City quarterback coach Greg Goodyear, Bumpus’ dad lives near LSU. That could be something to consider as the recruiting season progresses.
The schools that are in the hunt for the last three visits for the talented Mr. Bumpus are USC, Washington, Oregon, Kansas State, Nebraska and Colorado.
Bumpus is a member The Rivals100 team for the class of 2004 and his rated as the 70th best prospect at any position, he is rated as the nation’s number 10th wide receiver, he is also a member of the Super West 60 team as the 17th best prospect in the west and made the California top 100 team landing in the lucky number 13 spot.
