Miami QB commits to the Hokies

According to Head Coach Anthony Sanders, Miami (Fla.) Central’s Courtney Denson committed to Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-1 and 180 pound standout is another Michael Vick clone. He passed for more than 1,800 yards and rushed for more than 400 yards as a junior.
“He did commit to Virginia Tech,” Sanders said. “Other schools wanted him as athlete, but he wants to play quarterback in college so he decided to jump on it. I encourage all my players to still take visits though.”

Schools that have offered Denson are Florida State, Virginia Tech, Auburn, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Boston College and Rutgers.
“I like Virginia Tech because they are my style of offense,” Denson said “They let the quarterback use his speed to his advantage. Virginia Tech’s passing and running attack is similar to the one I run at Central. There are a lot of options.”
Denson was looking for a school with a strong academic and football background.
“I was looking for a school where I could get a good education,” Denson said. “A place where there was a good football team that plays in a tough conference with a hard schedule.”
Denson, who is on track to fully qualify, is the brother of former Florida State cornerback Clevan Thomas.
This summer, Denson plans on attending football camps at Auburn, Miami, and Florida.
Editor’s note:
Last night Denson didn’t indicate that he was committed to Virginia Tech. However, he did say that he was leaning to towards Hokies. Denson told FlaRecruiting.com that he planned on visiting several schools. Look for another update on him soon to confirm if he’s a firm or soft commitment.
