Miami OL picking up offers

Miami (Fla.) Southridge offensive lineman Clifford McCray has flown somewhat under the radar this season, but that is all about to change. He has picked up several impressive scholarship offers over the summer.
“Right now I have offers from Temple, Auburn, Florida International and Rutgers,” McCray said. “I feel like Florida is pretty close too. They have been calling my coach and all and sending me a lot of mail. I went to camp there and I feel like I did pretty well overall.”

McCray is a 6-foot-2, 300-pound lineman who runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds. He is being recruited as both a center and guard on the college level.
“All the schools I have talked to told me that I could play either center or guard,” McCray said. “I am also a really good long snapper and I can help out there. Every team needs a dependable long snapper and that is something that I bring to the table. Our school runs a lot of off-tackle plays so I am used to blocking down.”
As a junior McCray was named second team all-county. His father played football at Morris Brown and tried out with a NFL franchise.
“My top schools are Miami, Florida, Pittsburgh, NC State, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss and Penn State,” McCray said. “I am interested in some others and don’t want them to think that I am not because I didn’t list them. I really want to take all of my visits and see who all offers before I make a decision. I just don’t want to rush into any kind of decision.”
He is an excellent academic student who carries a 3.45 GPA and has already scored a 970 on the SAT. The only camp he attended this summer was at Florida.
“I’m looking for competition,” McCray said. “I want to play with and against the best. I want to play for a school with tradition. I want a school that is recognized with winning and having successful players. I want major in either engineering or sports medicine so obviously I want to go to a school that offers that program.”
