THE LATEST: Elijah Moore is hesitant to name a leader but he does it anyway. Sure, the four-star wide receiver does so with a “probably” in front of his favorite school in an effort to hedge, but the fact that he’s been high on the Hurricanes for some time isn’t some secret.

As Moore eased into the statement, he knew it carried little shock value.

“It’s probably Miami,” Moore said on Saturday. “I feel comfortable with them and I talk to them a lot.”

But that’s not to say his recruitment is an open-and-shut case. Moore has plenty of offers to explore. It’s why he’s scheduled two trips in the comings weeks. Miami is the early leader, but its work is nowhere near compete.

“I’m going to Alabama on (Jan.) 28,” Moore said. “I might go to Clemson on the 31st.”

A 2018 prospect, Moore attends Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He is ranked as the No. 26 receiver and the No. 156 overall prospect in his class.

IN HIS WORDS: “I’m probably going to Alabama’s junior day with Asante (Samuel). So we’re going up together.

RIVALS REACTION: Alabama getting an early commitment from fellow Florida-based wide receiver Xavier Williams may have diminished the chances that Moore lands in Tuscaloosa. Ohio State will be a player for Moore, though. As will Clemson, Michigan State, Georgia and others. Miami is set up nicely, however, and a nice season on the field could help wrap up Moore’s commitment.
