Miami "felt like a second home" to new 'Canes target Torrence

After competing at a 7v7 in south Florida over the weekend, Rashad Torrence visited Miami before heading back to Marietta (Ga.).

The visit led to an offer for Torrence.

The 6-foot, 185 pound safety camped at Miami in eighth grade and he has been in contact with Jon Richt over the past year, so the offer was not a shock.

The Hurricanes are now on his list.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Coach Jon Richt called me and said that he spoke with coach [Ephraim] Banda and they both like the way I played," said Torrence. "They then said that they were ready to give me an offer.

"When on the visit, I saw the coach's office, weight room, the practice field and where they would be building the indoor facility.

"The family environment and the feel of the place is what stood out most to me. It felt like a second home."

"I don’t really have a set order but Miami is definitely in consideration as to where I would like to go to school."

RIVALS REACTION: The interest is there. Torrence camped at The U at a young age, so you know he has interest in the Hurricanes. It only helps that Miami has a commitment from one of his teammates, 2020 wide receiver Jermaine Burton. He is busy with 7v7 right now and he has no other visits scheduled at this time. It is still early in his recruitment too, so he does not have a leader or an ordered list of favorites. Miami has put itself right in the thick of this race by offering.
