Miami DE wants looks

Miami (Fla.) Coral Reef defensive end Jackie Carter hopes to get his name out in recruiting circles and earn a college football scholarship.
"I haven't gotten any hand-written letters or text messages," he said. "I've just been getting recruiting mail so far. I've been invited to camps, junior days and unofficial visits so far."

Carter visited Miami (Fla.) for a Junior Day earlier this spring and the Hurricanes quickly vaulted to the top of his wish list.
"UM is that one school that I always have had," Carter said. "I'm from Miami, so it's always been one of my favorite colleges."
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder is only in his second season playing football.
"My athleticism (is a strength)," he said. "I never had played football in my life until I got to high school, so it's just about that process of learning the game and getting better.
"I think I can help a Division I-A team out, though. I'm staying after practice and working on my speed and quickness."
Carter attended the Rivals.com Junior Day on April 1 at Bishop Moore High in Orlando, Fla.
"I thought it was very helpful to know what to do in certain situations you are put in," Carter said. "Things like how stuff is made and what to look for. Also, how to go to certain camps to get noticed by recruiters."
Carter also attended the Miami NIKE Camp on April 9 in Coral Gables, Fla.
