Miami DE dominates in his jamboree

Last Thursday, Miami (Fla.) Carol City’s Eric Moncur put on a show at the Miami city jamboree. His performance left college scouts and fans speechless. The 6-foot-3 and 230 pound defensive end racked up two and half sacks, one pressure and five tackles in two quarters of play. What makes his feat even more amazing is the fact that he only played in ever other series. It’s easy to see why so many division 1-A schools are after his services.
“Rutgers, Georgia, and North Carolina State have offered in writing,” Moncur said. “Florida and Florida State have verbally offered me. My top five schools are Georgia, Miami, North Carolina State, Florida and Florida State. I’m open with all those schools.”

Moncur, who is on track to qualify, grew up a fan of Miami. He also likes Florida and Florida State. All three of those programs have called him in May.
“Last week Coach Coker of Miami called, and he said they are watching a lot of film on me,” Moncur said. “He said that I’m a good player, and they want me out there. He asked me how many sacks I was going to get in the jamboree. I told him three, and Coach Coker said he was going to hold me to that. Florida called, and they offered me on the phone. The coach also congratulated me on my SAT test score. Coach Lilly of Florida State called a week ago, and he also offered me over the phone.”
This summer, Moncur won’t attend any summer football camps. However, he plans on staying busy by building up his strength and speed.
