Miami Norland defensive back Shannon Ballard has picked up an offer from a second Big East school and is wide open heading into the heart of recruiting season.
The 5-foot-10, 173-pounder, who projects as a cornerback, recently was extended a scholarship offer by Connecticut. The Huskies join fellow Big East school Rutgers, along with Akron, in offering the south Florida standout.
Ballard doesn't have any favorites at this point.
"I'm just ready to go and play Division I football," he said. "I mean, I don't really have any favorites right now, I'm just ready to go and play."
Ballard, who has not attended any college football games this fall, also doesn't have any visits set up right now, but that will change in the near future.
"I plan to take some visits," Ballard said. "I am going to get with my coach and he is going to let me know about everything. We are going to set up some times for me to go."
Ballard's high school season is over. He played a little running back, in addition to corner, this season.
"It's painful that it ended so quick," he said. "But life's a sprint."
