Four-star Miami Hurricanes linebacker commit Raphael Kirby of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson said late Sunday night he has set up four official visits and is close to having a fifth finalized.
According to Kirby, he will visit Vanderbilt (Saturday), Miami (Oct. 22), Florida (Nov. 5) and South Carolina (Nov. 19). His fifth official, to be determined this week, will go either to Georgia or Southern California.
Though he said he remains committed to the Hurricanes, Kirby has been exploring his options since allegations about Miami were reported by Yahoo! In August.
"These are the schools I considered before I even committed," said Kirby, a U.S. Army All-American and Rivals250 prospect. "I just want to get back to the schools I've been to and see them in depth. That will give me a perception of what I want to do."
The trip to Miami will be Kirby's first to Coral Gables, he said. The coaches in Coral Gables apparently have been respectful of Kirby's plans.
"I talk to them regularly," he said.
According to Kirby, Georgia and South Carolina have been recruiting him the hardest. Vanderbilt likes him at inside linebacker; the other schools in the mix prefer him at outside backer.
Kirby has teammates committed to Florida, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
"None of them are putting any pressure on me right now," Kirby said. "But they might make a joke out of it every once in awhile."
Playing mostly inside linebacker, Kirby has 60-plus tackles and 13 ½ sacks in six games this season.
