Miami CB getting lots of looks

Miami (Fla.) Krop Travis Howard is getting plenty of attention from colleges by way of mail and text messages. The South Florida standout talked with Rivals.com about the current status of his recruitment on Wednesday night.
"I've been getting a few letters from Florida, UCF and a lot from Miami," he said. "I also get some from Kansas State."

Howard added that the Golden Knights, whose efforts are being led by assistant coach David Kelly, and the Wildcats have been sending text messages.
Howard talked about what he likes about UCF.
"I was supposed to take a visit there but I couldn't get up there because I was training for a combine coming up," Howard said. "UCF is a good college and I like them. (Former Golden Knights quarterback) Daunte Culpepper is one of my idols. If I were to get the offer from them, I would take it."
Howard isn't as familiar with the Wildcats.
"I don't know anything about Kansas State," he said. "They've just been sending me a lot of letters."
Miami also is interested in Howard. He went to the Hurricanes spring game this past weekend.
"I talked with (Miami linebackers coach) Michael Barrow and he was saying that they were going to come to my spring game," Howard said. "He said they had my tape and they liked it, but they wanted to see me in my spring game."
The Hurricanes are the clear favorites at this point.
"I loved Miami when I was little," he said. "That's one of my favorite teams and they've turned out a lot of pros. I think it's the right school for me, but I am looking at all of my options."
Howard was an honorable mention All-Dade County selection and had 50 tackles, two interceptions and three forced fumbles (one for a touchdown) his junior season.
