Metroplex TE making waves

One of the fastest rising prospects in the Dallas Metroplex is Colleyville (Texas) Heritage standout tight end J.B. Phillips. The three-star prospect has led his team to a 9-1 record and a state playoff birth with his solid play.

And now he's starting to catch the eye of the college coaches.
Phillips currently has offers from SMU and Louisiana Lafayette, but is becoming a regular also with schools like Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
"It's still pretty crazy," he said. "I'm telling them that I'm mainly looking to take my visits after the season. I'm trying to keep everything open, but I do have a few schools in the back of my mind that I really like."
And if one of those schools happen to offer?
"I don't know," he said. "We'll have to see."
For now, Phillips, who is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, is focused on one thing - beating Arlington Sam Houston in the first round of the Texas State playoffs. Heritage battles Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Arlington’s Wilemon Stadium.
