Mesquite (Texas) North Mesquite offensive center Grant Garner had plenty of options to consider – offers from Oklahoma State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, SMU and Mississippi State. But it was another school's offer that he decide to jump on Saturday.

"Grant has committed to Iowa State," North Mesquite coach Steve Bragg said. "He's really excited about his decision."
Garner received all-district honors as a junior and recently was named team captain for the upcoming season. Iowa State was one of his earliest offers and Cyclone assistant Brian Schneider recruited the 6-foot-3, 265-pound two-star center.
"He'll line up somewhere," Bragg said.
"He's just kind of at the bottom end size-wise. He was an all-district player at tackle, we moved him to center, then he was all-district there. He's a great kid who has a 3.88 GPA and he's just going to get better."
Garner is a humble player that is quick to credit those around him.
"Just the guys around me make me look good, and I just work hard," Garner said. "I just play smart and do what I do."
