Metroplex DE makes pick

One of the fastest rising prospects in the Dallas Metroplex this season was Colleyville (Texas) Heritage defensive end Kyle Griffin.
After a good junior season, Griffin came back with 12 sacks as a senior, allowing him to earn scholarship offers from SMU, Miami of Ohio, Air Force, North Texas, Army and heavy interest from Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

But he decided to end the recruiting process this weekend with a commitment to SMU.
“I committed to the coaches this morning,” Griffin, who is 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, said. “The guys were all like me, wanting to help turn around that team and get on the field pretty quickly. That’s one of the biggest reasons why I committed.”
Griffin said Texas A&M was coming over to his house this afternoon for an in-home visit, but he called and canceled that. He’s also going to have to call Notre Dame and cancel a scheduled official visit for next weekend.
“I’m excited about SMU,” he said. “My parents, especially my mom, is really about me staying close to home.”
